Premier League, the assumptions to end the championship

Premier League, the assumptions to end the championshipPremier League, the assumptions to end the championship

The hypotheses for the conclusion of the Premier League, a scenario in which every day will be played in June and July in a sort of world championship

The theme becomes more and more current and exciting as the days go by, with the national federations trying to find solutions to end the season suddenly interrupted in the face of a health emergency with an uncertain horizon. Italy does so, with an increasingly separate front between those who would like to resume and those who would like to freeze the season and start again from the next, England does it with the Premiership and obviously also with the Premier League. The stated goal remains to allow the 2019-20 championship to end and to do so, drastic solutions are being studied, in Europe as in the NBA, to start playing again late in the spring regardless of the evolution of the virus.

Premier League, you play every day

92 games remain to be played and according to some English sources such as the Independent, one possibility would be to play them over a period of two months, June and July, making them play different every day exactly as happens for competitions such as the World Cup and the European Championships. It is clearly a bold idea that however could be considered by the FA because it would allow the television broadcast of all the matches every day for two months, a product that has enormous appeal not only to fans of the United Kingdom but also to all other countries in the world since the Premier League is the most watched and followed championship on a global level.

Location and possible problems

To make this plan possible, an essential basis is to find one, two or more likely three locations that allow you to safely carry out and continue the calendar. It has been speculated that the conditions necessary for such a design may exist between London and the Midlands. Of course, all games would be played behind closed doors. The teams would be isolated in actual retreats that would allow isolation from the outside, in a way not different from what happens during the World Cup and the Europeans even if with even more rigid measures. If the advantage lies in offering a daily product and fans to see their team on the field every three or four days, the main problem is to guarantee the same degree of safety not only for the players but also for the multitude of professionals who serve for conducting a game. Referees, doctors, technical staff, experts and above all the figures who serve for the television broadcast, from cameramen to commentators to electricians. A huge machine to assemble and above all maintain effective and free of infection for over sixty days. Furthermore, this kind of de facto solution would close the doors to the conclusion of the Champions League and Europa League, which by their nature can hardly be completed by the summer.
